Marie discovered clay in Nepal, at the end of a year and a half trip to Asia and Pacific. It's a crush on the material. A trip to Colombia followed, during which she spent several months with the ceramist Margarita Casas. She will discover life in the workshop there and will begin her apprenticeship on a potter's wheel. After this privileged experience, Marie will only have clay in mind and decides on her return to continue her training in Spain in Seville, then in Granada. She will be a production assistant in a ceramic studio in exchange for evening classes.
Now back in Marseille where she grew up, Marie is based at the Atelier Déméterre, where she shapes decorative and utilitarian objects in small series. Most of her research is organized around mixtures and textures. Thanks to these two processes, she creates organic and raw pieces, largely inspired by nature. Each object is made using slow handbuilding techniques and is often left raw, to let the clay reveal its natural grain.
